According to Massachusetts Laws, OUI arrest cases are almost always heard and settled at
the local district court level around the Commonwealth.

Should I Hire a Local Lawyer who knows people at the District Court to
defend my OUI charge?
It can definitely be helpful to know the judges in court. And in most cases,
I am quite familiar with many judges in many different Massachusetts District
Courts.
However, OUI / DUI is a very complicated area of the law, and the laws and procedures
often change. I would not recommend that you choose someone who is friendly with
the court employees over someone who knows Massachusetts drunk driving laws,
Melanie's Law, and Registry hardship license procedures.
If you hire a lawyer who doesn't fight drunk driving cases all the
time, he may not know all of the finer points, and make a mistake that could
cost you extra time on a license suspension, or worse.
Always look for an attorney who fights (and wins) OUI cases. Ask about how
many OUI cases he takes to trial, and his record in winning.
